Platteklip Gorge Hike

Platteklip Gorge route is the most direct and quickest route up Table Mountain. On clear days the Platteklip Gorge route presents hikers with excellent views of the Cape Town coastline, city centre and southern suburbs.

Once at the top you have the option of spending more time here.  There is a restaurant and shop.  And you can take the cable car down to the start again.

Skeleton Gorge Hike

This hike starts on the Eastern side of Table Mountain in the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.  We ascend Skeleton Gorge through an indigenous forest which offers some welcome shade from the African sun. This hike has a few ladders and short scramble. At the top it opens up and from here it is a steady climb on the ‘back table’ of the mountain to Maclear’s Beacon which is the highest point on Table Mountain at 1085 meters. The last part to the cable car is a relatively flat walk offering iconic views of the front side of Table Mountain and the City of Cape Town below.

India Venster Hike

This adventurous route takes you up Table Mountain, almost directly in line with the cable car!  This hike includes rock scrambling and exposed terrain. This hike is not suitable for those afraid of heights! Even though the city is visible from all sections of this hike, one can often feel a million miles away from the hustle and bustle below. The last part of the hike takes us around the mountain to the Atlantic Ocean side and up a quiet kloof to the top.

Kasteel’s Poort Hike

This route starts at the top of Kloofnek.  We follow a footpath the pipe track all the way around to the Atlantic side of the mountain. Then we head up Kasteelpoort which is a steady climb up a beautiful ravine.  Once at the top we head up part of the Valley of the Red Gods & into the Valley of Isolation which has interesting rock formations creating a bowl-like valley. Then we descend into Echo Valley and up the backside of Table Mountain up 3 ladders.
